Does a portable pool lift need to be bonded or grounded? This question was recently raised by an inspector and I wanted to seek some clarification.
Here are the facts about the pool lift: it runs on a 24V DC battery, and is fully portable.
I would say no bonding is required because the casters (with rubber wheels) act as a permanent barrier between the lift and the pool deck (NEC 680.26). I would say no to grounding because it only runs off of a 24V DC battery (NEC 250.162).
Am I missing something?
