Hello all,

I'm preparing for a self-contained hot tub delivery. My current plan consists of:

1. Pouring an 8x8 concrete slab. It will be reinforced with rebar, which will be connected/bonded to the tub via the required #8 gauge copper. This is what the hot tub will rest on.

2. Building a raised composite deck around the hot tub. My tub stands 36" tall and my plan is to build the deck to within a foot or so of the top rim of the tub. This decking will completely cover the slab.

Based on what I've read, because this decking will be closer than 28" from the top rim of the tub, it needs to be bonded to the tub.

I would imagine I use the copper wire coming out of the concrete slab and also connect this, in some manner, to the decking, before it finally connects to the bonding lug of the hot tub.

So my question: What's the correct way to bond this copper wire to a composite deck? More specifically:

1. Does the wire need to touch all the deck planks that actually surround the tub, or does it just need to touch one part of the decking, like a joist or post?

2. How should the wire be actually connected to a piece of composite decking? Is there some screw-down connector I should be using?

Thanks!
