Do we need to bond the metal 4' x 6' band (with several bolts) that supports the exterior wall of the pool? It is usually on the same side as the pool pump. Should we bond with #8 solid wire to pump lug?

Thank you for your time

Grounding vs Bonding

Grounding vs Bonding

Thread,
Not sure I'm correct, but the way I read Article 680.26 (B) (1), unless the metallic parts have been encapsulated with non conductive compounds, then you must bond this structural piece your referring too (don't know pools very well). Also, it appears a #8 or greater is acceptable to form a common bonding grid. Art 680.26 (5) (C).

Maybe someone with pool experience could chime in to confirm?

Any and all parts of a metal pool must be bonded to the entire system with a #8 copper. Heater, pool deck with rebar must be bonded 3' from pool wall if deck is concrete. Be sure to connect only 1 conductor to 1 lug, no double tap permitted.
