bonding spa equiment

I am dealing with a spa installer and cannot get through to him about the importance of bonding. The spa tub is stainless steel and is located outside. The pump, gas heater and controlls are located around the side of the house about 30 feet away. A #8 bonding wire is attached to the steel tub and is brought back to the equiment room but is not attached to any thing because it is laying coiled up on the floor. i feel that the metal frame of the gas heater, the pump, the metal control box and the supply gas pipe should all be bonded together. Any toughts on this?

Yes, I have some thoughts. I am thinking article 680 covers this very much in detail, and mostly my thoughts fall along the line of outdoor spa's and hot tubs have to follow part 2 and part 4 of 680 which means bond all them there items, and dig up the concrete footing to expose some rebar perhaps, if present, if the tub is sitting on a concrete pad, and get that bonded also.

Re: bonding spa equiment

I think you would explain to the installer that the code states that all metal parts of electrical equipement associated with the spa or tub must be bonded. As for the gas line that feeds to the heater it would not be a bad idea to bond the pipe and equipement to keep the same potential.I would check with a local AhJD local inspector... Does the gas line connect directly to the spa and by what material

Re: bonding spa equiment

Let me correct my last question to my comment.I am assuming that all the controls heater and gas pipe are 30 foot away.If that is so and there is not connction to the spa (besides plactic pipe)the bond wire still should go to the controls and pump then in return ground path
