We have a situation where the homeowner wants us to bond the spa motor. We are using PEX tubing for the water supply so we can't bond it there. The motor is grounded to a GFCI. My question is do we need to bond the motor? The spa is a Kohler K-1162.

NO

NO

Here is a reply from the NFPA on this situation that would apply if we are talking about a hydromassage bathtub.

The isolated metal stem for the faucet that is associated with the water supply for the hydromassage bathtub does not constitute a metal water piping system nor is it a grounded metal part, therefore it is not required to be bonded. Section 680.74 requires bonding of metal water piping systems and grounded metal parts associated with the hydromassage bathtub and the isolated metal stem for the faucet is not covered by the bonding requirement.

No, we do not require it in Colorado. (if it is a plastic water piping system) Let the equipment grounding conductor do the job. No metallic items, no reason to ground.
