Article 680.26(C) 2008 nec.......How do you guys bond the water in a self-contained package unit spa/hot tub installed outdoors? I don't think they come from the factory with any provisions for this if the pump motor is double insulated.

I'm thinking if an Equipotential Bonding grid/wire is required and the water is not bonded by any of the other metal parts as required in 680.26 then the water has to be at the same potential as the EPBG.

I see your point.

Does anyone actual bond the water in a hot tub?

If the pump is double insulated then you need to bond your EPB to the EGC of the pump motor. I find it hard to believe that a self contained unit does not have some device built into the tub to account for that.

I'll be seeing the hot tub today, HO says the unit has a metal drain which would be perfect.
