Steel well casing is 25+ feet from closest point of the inside pool surface, but is within 6' of the bonded pool deck. I could see how, in theory, but kinda of a stretch, a dripping wet kid could chase a ball and have one foot on deck while touching casing.

Well casing houses inverter driven variable speed pool pump which are known to throw off transients to ground. Well casing is also bonded to the residence through UFER and ground rods through the intersystem bonding connector.

Is bonding the casing to the pool via the deck steel inviting more harm than good? In this case, it seems to me the possibility of the well casing becoming energized is high and that would lead to pool becoming energized.

The well casing must be bonded to the pool deck, because both get bonded to the house grounding electrode system.

The question is the layout of this bonding, is there a direct connection from well casing to deck.

I don't think this is a big issue. The whole reason for pool equipotential bonding is to make sure that when the pool gets energized the whole pool gets energized to the same voltage, with no voltage difference presenting a shock hazard.
