I have to replace a whirlpool pump. The old motor/pump was one piece and was properly grounded with a #6 AWG copper grounding wire. The new unit is two pieces, the motor/pump and a separate controller. The motor/pump plugs into the controller with the controller plugged into the GFCI receptacle. Both have a connection for the grounding conductor. Instructions say the controller must be bonded.
Question. Should the grding conductor be connected to the motor/pump first and then run a bonding wire to the controller OR can the controller be connected to the grding conductor first then the motor/pump? Does it mater which one is first?
