Hello,
We are running Pvc in the ground, we are going to use sch. 40 pvc conduit. My question is can sch. 40 be used in a boring machine.

Re: boring

This is not covered by the NEC. I also do not see anything in the UL listing prohibiting or permiting RNC to be used in conjunction with a boring machine.

I would check with the boring machine manufacturer and the conduit manufacturer to see if the two are compatible. Section 352.10(G) implies that it could be permitted.

Re: boring

300.5 ... (K) Directional Boring. Cables or raceways installed using directional boring equipment shall be approved for the purpose.
There is at least one manufacturer making a product for this purpose. If the run is very long the standard glued joints on PVC often pull apart as you try to pull the raceway back through the bored hole. I even had this happen with 1.25" rigid conduit where the coupling pulled off the conduit threads. If I ever use directional boring to install rigid conduit again, I will throw the conduit couplings away and use plumbing pipe couplings.
