My friend sent this pic of a Bosch dishwasher. Apparently they come different ways and can be order with different cords. This one came with a 4' cord that has a jb on one end and a male plug or modular plug on the other end.

I don't see how this setup is compliant unless there is another switch in a accessible location to disconnect the dishwasher. I don't see how either of these sections are complied with.

422.33 Disconnection of Cord-and-Plug-Connected Appliances.
(A) Separable Connector or an Attachment Plug and Receptacle. For cord-and-plug-connected appliances, an
accessible separable connector or an accessible plug and receptacle shall be permitted to serve as the disconnecting
means. Where the separable connector or plug and receptacle are not accessible, cord-and-plug-connected appliances
shall be provided with disconnecting means in accordance with 422.31

Accessible (as applied to equipment). Admitting close
approach; not guarded by locked doors, elevation, or other
effective means.

Note: Installations employing a Receptacle

The accessory cord kit (Model # SMZPC002UC) designed for connection to

a receptacle is not provided, but can be ordered through Customer Service

by calling 1-800-944-2904. Make sure the household receptacle meets the

electrical supply requirements as well as national and local codes. If you

choose to permanently connect to hardwiring, follow the next steps.

can a rec. be place in the cabinet below the sink where the dish washer drain hose is connected?

.

That doesn't do any good if there is a jb on the end

Yes this is what my friend was saying but why doesn't it come with the cord & plug instead of this ridiculous install

What is shown in your post, the dishwasher could be unplugged at the back of the dishwasher (disconnecting means, although not exactly handy to do so).
I generally install a receptacle (AFCI/GFCI protected by a breaker) under the sink. This allows for any set-up that might enter the picture! :D
