A question came up in conversation with someone and myself.

If you have two 12/2 w/ground Romexs in one 18 cubic inch plastic box and use wire connectors such as these and then connect jumpers to the connectors are you now increasing the number of conductors in the box and have to accommodate in your calculation for them?

In stead of connecting the two 12/2 to the screws of the receptacle you would place the conductors in the connectors and then put in one jumper on both the hot, neutral and ground thus now only having to connect three conductors to the receptacle do you have to add the jumpers as conductors when doing your calculations?

(1) Conductor Fill. Each conductor that originates outside
the box and terminates or is spliced within the box shall be
counted once, and each conductor that passes through the box
without splice or termination shall be counted once. Each
loop or coil of unbroken conductor not less than twice the
minimum length required for free conductors in 300.14 shall
be counted twice. The conductor fill shall be calculated using
Table 314.16(B). A conductor, no part of which leaves the box,
shall not be counted.

Ok, thanks. Right there and it did not trigger in my head as to what that meant until you put it to me.

Thanks
