i was wondering about how you calculate the total number of wires allowed in a 12 inch by 12 inch by 6 inch box to get the total number of 10 awg wires allowed to be in it?

Short answer you find the cubic inches and divide it by 2.5 to get the number of wires.
That said it depends on how many wires terminate, the number of equipment grounds and even the Code cycle in use

For those boxes and #10's don't waste you time with a calculation. You likely cannot overfill them. But just in case you're urious Augie gave you the answer
