Good morning experts! I am vacationing in the OBX and have a guy with a box fill calculation. While I couldnt possible calculate this with the ocean in the background, I know you can answer this.

3 cut in boxes ganged together @2×3×2.5"
3 12/2 mc cables into box
3 devices

If I'm looking at it correctly all grounds count as one conductor. Pigtails that don't enter nor leave box do not count. Connectors don't count. Wire nuts and ground screw don't count....so
6 conductors @#12 enter box
1 ground @#12
6 (3 devices counting as two conductors each)
=13 total conductors
× 2.25 per 314.16b
=29.25 cubic inches in fill

I calculate 3 gang box at 37.5 cubic inches. I think we are legal, although will be a difficult to get devices in.

Do you see any problem with the math or inspector?

According to T314.16(A) each box of that size can accommodate 5-#12 conductors. 5*3 boxes gives you 15-#12's total so with 13 after your calculation you're good to go. :)
