When doing box fill calculations the needed volume will fit in a 4 square box.
Why does the answer require a 4 X 11/16 box . ( Stallcups masters study guide )

As Lowryder said we need more information. More than likely the amount of fill exceeds that of a 4" box so a 4 11/16" box is required.

Box fill

This is the problem.
4 - #12 hots
4 - # 12 neutrals
4 - # 12 egc's
2 - cable clamps

I see the volume as 22.5 in a 4" x 2 1/8 square box .This is counting ecg only once.

The volumn of a 4"square box 2 1/8" deep is 30.3 based on Table 314.16(A).

Your calculation would fit in this box but did the example say it was a 4"sq box that was 2 1/8" deep or 1 1/2" deep. What were your choices???

The volumne of your example is 2.25 times 11 providing there are no devices in the box.
