Need to size pull-box for MV system @ 4.16kV system. Assume 1" OD Shielded-cable (to make the comps easier). A314.71 describes "Straignt Pulls" in (A) and "Angle and U Pulls" in (B). However, my application is back-wall entry, out on bottom. How is box sized and is this just an "Angle Pull"? If interested, conduit will be 3" RMC.
My opinion (minimum size):
Depth of box: 12" (12 x 1" OD = 12" per A314.71(B)(1) Exception #1)
Width of box: Whatever is adequate for conduit size.
Height of box: Provide a minimum of 36x or 36" clear distance between conduit entry & exit points per A314.71(B)(2). Therefore, assuming the rear conduit is mounted near the top of the rear-wall, the "practical" box height will need to be next size larger than 36" to allow for conduit installation, locknuts, etc. (Likely 42" +/-)
Comments appreciated.
