Boxes, faceplates and jacks in plenum spaces

I know that there is a section (800) for cabling in plenum areas but I was wondering if 300.22 C is what applies to the boxes the cable goes to? We have some locations that have a ceiling (suspended / return air) locations where there is a mounted face place with data jack. If a low voltage bracket or non metallic box not listed for such use was used, would I be correct in thinking that it needs to be replaced with either a listed non metallic box or metal one and that all mounting holes and knockouts opened up should have some sort of fire stop applied to them? Also does the faceplate and jack have to be plenum rated?
We are about to start a big project and I want to let the decision makers know what specifications we should be looking at.

If I'm reading the code right, firestop is only for penatrations through fire-resistant barriers (300.21). I've never heard of plenum-rated jacks or face-plates. (My not having heard of them doesn't mean they don't exist, of course.) The big objection to non-plenum cable is the nasty poison gas released when PVC burns. Jacks and plates aren't PVC, are they? (Or are they?)

I'm not quite sure about this one either.

I see in 300.22(B):

Equipment and devices shall be permitted within such ducts or plenum chambers only if necessary for their direct action upon, or sensing of, the contained air.

Perhaps they are not permitted at all?
