Boxes in fire rated walls.......

Where can I find the requirements on this? Is this in the building code or NFPA? I know there are limitations but need some reference. Thanks.
 
Chevy 03' IBC 712.3.2 membrane penetrations as Bryan mentioned. Also, check "Hilti and Metacaulk-Box Guard" manufs. and In "rated wall assemblies" (min. 1 hr) back to back boxes are not permitted and if they are within 24" of each other then both boxes must be treated with the protective means.
 
....with no opening more than 16 sq ins and no more than 100 sq ins of openings in 100 sq ft of wall space.

There is a new box made by Allied that you can reduce the distance of back to back boxes to just 3" and be in the same stud bay.

Is there a copy of the current IBC available to view online anywhere?
