A Settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit against BP Solar and Home Depot involving solar panels manufactured between 1999 and 2007 with an S-type junction box (“Class Panels”). You may be entitled to benefits from a $45.33 million common fund or a separate, $20 million claims-made settlement.

The lawsuit claims these panels are defective and prone to junction box failures which could cause burn marks at the junction box, shattered glass, and a potential fire hazard. BP and Home Depot deny these claims.

People who think that subsidy farming is a good way to make a living invest at their own peril (talking to you, Mr. Warren Buffett). Nowadays it's a lot harder to hide that someone is pumping cash out of your pocket for their benefit than it used to be. All those wannabe journalists on the Internet, looking to make their bones, poking their noses into everything. New administration, new priorities, and bam! you're in chapter 11 unless you've managed to squirrel away enough capital to ride out the next 4-8 years.
