Braking resistor & VFD question

If your application requires braking and the braking resistor fails open, the drive will still run, but when you attempt to stop or decel, the DC bus voltage will have nowhere to go and the drive will trip off. If you change the VFD to "Coast to stop", the lack of a braking resistor will become irrelevant.

If the braking resistor circuit SHORTS, then the drive will trip off line until the short is removed. If the short was in the braking transistor, you will not be able to reset it until the braking transistor is removed (if it is removable). That braking "module" in your link is the braking resistor and the transistor as a separate package, so if the transistor inside of it shorts, you will need to disconnect it in order to allow the drive to run.
