Is it allowed to run branch circuits of lightings and receptacles on a perforated bottom cable tray system per NEC code.
If i can get the exact clause of NEC allowing this?

The code does not restrict the type of circuits that can be installed in cable tray. It only restricts the wiring methods that can be installed in the cable tray. See 392.10

That is an interesting question to ask. As our esteemed moderator Don mentioned, you can run most kinds of circuits in cable tray as long as you follow the appropriate rules.

One of the rules being that you can't run single conductors smaller than 1/0, the circuit would have to be part of a cable or raceway that is allowed by table 392.10.

So you could run single conductors for 20A receptacles inside EMT for example, but the conductors could not be run by themselves in the tray, since they would likely be smaller than 1/0.
