Could anyone help me find where it says how many openings are allowed on a single 20 amp circuit... for example six can lights with six outlet receptacles in the living room, a switch on each wall... (14 openings) would you state where it was found also. thanks

You can put as many outlets as you want on general purpose Branch circuits in a dwelling unit.

6 cans and 6 receptacles in a living room trip a breaker  On a 20 amp circuit........It`s fine !!!!!!!! what will there be?A lamp maybe.TV,dvd player, surround sound.Maybe 10 amps at the highest......Sundowner with #12 use 12/13 openings as a basis to wire by,oh and switches don`t count.IWIRE is correct there is no max.But 1 general purpose circuit per 500 sq. ft. Is another way to go by.Don`t forget those recessed cans they add up.Compensate for them.I have used this to go by since the point system went bye-bye.
