Branch Circuit Receptacles: Continuity of Ungrounded and Grounded conductors.

I understand the EGC continuity is required to be independent of the receptacle (in this case 120v yoke). Is this also true for the Hot (black) and Neutral (white)?

Seems like a good practice however I can not locate (in Article 210) that this is required.

If this is required, are the whips counted as conductors in box fill calculations?

In a MWBC the grounded circuit conductor can not rely on a device for continuity, the hot conductor doesn't matter, read 300.13(B)

And stuffing an extra pigtail and wire nut back in the box so you can squeeze in a GFCI outlet... Origami is easy by comparison!
