can any one direct me to the code article wich states branch circuit wiring in a suspended ceiling for possiple use in the future must be in a covered juction box or removed the service panel.

I am not sure if it is stated but in general most inspectors do not want to see open JB in case someone hooks up the wire. If the space is a plenum then 300.22(C)(1) may apply.

I find it interesting that art. 300.31 spells it out clearly for over 600V

I think he is asking is unused wiring must end in a junction box with a cover.

Lets say he has an MC cable that is run for possible future use from a panelboard to pretty much any space (not just above suspended ceiling) Does the end of this cable require to be terminated in a junction box? I don't think it does.

Similar question may be if a spare raceway is run does it need to end in a box? Again I say no. But I also think it should have some kind of plug or cap on the end as it is really no different than having an unused opening into the panel.
