Hey guys! First off we're being tested off 2008 nec. In 220.14 (j) it says the general lighting load 3va is including 210.11 (bathroom) and 210.52 (g) for garages. Isn't the bathroom a required recep. Not included in general and isn't the garage not figured into the square footage for the general lighting load? I don't know what I'm tripping over here. Thanks in advance !!

Bathroom receptacle is required, but that has no bearing on how it figures onto the calculated load. That's why 220.14(J)(1) specifically states, "...including receptacles connected to the circuits in 210.11(C)(3)".

220.12 states, "For dwelling units, the calculated floor area shall not include open porches, garages, or unused or unfinished spaces not adaptable for future use." The end result is, 120V, 20/15A garage receptacles do not contribute any amount to the calculated load unless a specific load is connected thereto and calculated under the other 220.14 requirements.
