branching off 1ooow ballast?

I want to add a 80w fan to cool a 1000w bulb, can i add the fan in paralell with the bulb? what exactly is being outputed by the ballast? will the extra 80w cause the light not to ignite, or possible destroy the fan??

Are you asking if it is okay to wire the fan on the load side of the lighting ballast?
If so, the answer would be no.

Why wouldn't you just supply it from the switch turning the light on?

I wanted to know if i could, to save from wiring it from the timer, but if its not correct, its not correct, thanks.
