Hi.
Anybody knows what does this word mean in emergency gen. set word.

For that job , Utility service rep. want a A.T.S that has this word in its spec.

It is a standard transfer switch, it disconnects one source before connecting the other source. This results in a very short outage during transition but prevents backfeeds and eliminates the need for the two sources to be synchronized. Another term for this is an 'open transition' switch.


On the other hand in some instances you want 'closed transition' switch which connects a second source before disconnecting the first. This can prevent any outage at all but obviously both sources have to be in sync to keep things from exploding while both sources are connected together.
