Breaker Addition

To All,

I currently have 1-3000A bkr. feeding 7-1200A bkrs. I want to know where in the code book (or elsewhere) that I can find out if I can add another branch to this ckt. and what if any rules are in place to govern such a scenario (without having to calculate cont./non-cont. load).

Thanks,
Brien

Brien -

You have already asked this. As has already been said, "No".

You are going to have to do the load study. I'd recommend you get started with a one-line and an ammeter. No up-to-date one-line? Well, that's where you get started - bring the one-line up to date.

I'll say it again; There are no shortcuts. You will need to evaluate the existing load and calculate the load that you will be adding in order to determine if the existing wiring can handle the additional load. Anything else is just a wild guess. There is nowhere in the code that advocates wild guesses!

Edited for spelling.

Not gonna happen.

As has been said time and again ~ you need to do the load calculation.

What's the problem doing the math?

Brien, as the others have said, you'll have to do some math.

Since this is a reworded duplicate of this thread I'm going to close this one so that the conversation will stay in one place.
