Breaker size

Instructions don't always comply with the NEC. In this case they may be more stringent so you follow the install rules. But the wording is kind of weasel worded with the wire size restriction being placed in parenthesis making it sound like a suggestion rather than a requirement. But the terminations could be limited to 60C which could also drive that wire size number. If you don't see anything saying the terminations are good for 75C, I would use #6 copper.

It is probably better to use #6 copper anyways just because of that note to avoid warranty or lawsuit issues. But it only need be copper and that size between the local disconnect and the spa. The circuit feeding the disconnect can be whatever is NEC legal.
