Is it permissible by code to use a cutler hammer plug in breaker in a GE loadcenter or any other manufacturers loadcenter? Please advise me of codes relating to this issue. Thanks

Re: breakers

You would have to be able to get UL certification in the new configuration. That means that the manufacturer of the panel must state that breakers from the other manufacturer will function properly in the panel. Reference 110.2 and 110.3(B).

Re: breakers

The answer to your question is no. I assume you are talking about Cutler Hammer's BR series. The rule of thumb is just because it fits doesn't mean that you can use it.

Cutler Hammer does make a line of UL Classified Breakers (Type CL) which are identical to BR but they are classified for use in other manufacturers panels. The only non-OEM breaker that you can use has to be a UL Classified breaker.
