I have had a problem with BRK 9120B smoke detectors in one of the new houses that we just finished. Every other day or so one of the smokes would start blinking and would give a single beep. Not the low battery chirp, but a loud 1-2 second beep. Tried reseting each one as it happend. The home owner obviously got tired of this after a while, so we replaced all 7 smokes with new BRKs. They were ok for about 2 days and the whole thing started over again. Has anyone heard of this or know what might cause this?

I have heard others complain about the BRK smokes but I don't know what the solution was. I would check all my connections and make sure everything is wired correctly. My bet is you changed the smokes but not the pigtail.

At least this will put your thread at the top and maybe get some other responses.

Where is it located? In the basement, attic, first floor, etc....
They have a temperature operating range.

Also, is any of the plastic tabs not pulled out, or has one made the battery door open upon removal?

We've installed hundreds this year alone, and not one problem with BRK.

Just came off a house with 7 Brk smokies 2 of em had to be replaced for false sensing, parts house took em right back , replaced em and NP
First time this year for a problem with BRK detectors

I've been installing BRKs for about 7 years now, and the only problems I've ever had is an occasional low battery. I just routinely stock some 9V extras on the truck, for them as well as various test equipement.

If the placement is near a shower, the super-heated hot air coming out of the shower will trip these things.

I recently installed one of the new BRK combo smoke/carbon monoxide detectors and the same thing with the chirp was happening. Inquired at the supply house and they told me that there is a recall on certain BRK units within a certain date range.

BRK smoke alarms have been a problem for a while now. We used to use them but now we avoid them like the plague. As mentioned there was a recall at one point. There have been several threads here about problems with BRK alarms. Maybe a search could provide some further information.
