BTU Loading Single phase

BTU loading is watts time 3.41. On a 20 amp single phase circuit to an appliance I've clamped 14 amps. The nuetral of the same circuit clamps 4 amps. Is the actual BTU loading based on load amps or is the nuetral/hot difference times 3.41 the actual BTU loss?

The neutral/hot difference had better be due to the appliance being a 120/240v device, or that 10a on another line sharing the neutral.

Sounds like you have multiple return paths for the neutral. 10 amps leaving a CB should equal 10 amps on the neutral for a typical 2 wire branch circuit with no faults to ground and no parallel return paths for the neutral.

locate where 4A returns,
and still are looking for the last 10A ?
