Hi all,

Ex-pat living in Japan. Built the kitchen of my dreams and I’m installing the final piece, my 30” in-wall smart oven as soon as I get the electrical worked out.

First and foremost, I have consulted with an electrician from the power company and he told me bluntly that this was beyond his expertise. I could continue to call around until I get an expert but I have no doubt some of you on here ARE those experts so I thought I’d give this a try. I intend to share this information with him.

So, we have 200v in Japan and my stove needs 240v. I understand heater elements don’t really care and would probably work on 200v although it would take longer to heat up. However, the “smart” electronics might not be as gracious. I’m not sure if that’s indeed the case but I figured why drop ridiculous amounts of money to buy this thing and ship it here just to half-ass the electrical stuff.

Anyways, the electrician has no issue running beefy wire and upgrading the breakers. So, I bought two buck/boosts (https://www.larsonelectronics.com/p...00v-primary-120v-secondary-31-25-amps-50-60hz) with the intent of boosting both legs to 120v The working KVa is 3.75 for each buck/boost so 7.5 KVa max operating voltage and my oven is rated at 5KVa.

I’ve reviewed the installation manual for installing one buck/boost and it seems relatively straight forward. My confusion is how do I install both of the buck/boost together so that my final output is 240v?

Thanks in advance.
Jay

We aren't allowed by Forum rules to assist those not in the electrical industry. I would suggest you either get an oven rated for the voltage you have or contact a local electrician. Not someone from the power company but a licensed, hands on, electrician.
