We are building a house with a builder. His electricians have been trying to cut corners based on what we were expecting from the electrical plan. The contract says he's not responsible for any missing outlets or missing switches from the electrical plan and it is just wired up "to code".
We are missing a 3-way switch in the kitchen. There are two entries into the kitchen, one off the hallway and one off the dining/living room. Isn't it electrical code to have the ability to turn the light on for each entry into the room?
We are also missing a switched outlet in the living room, which does not have an overhead light. Isn't it code to have a switched outlet in all rooms that do not have an overhead light?
He was supposed to put a switched outlet in the great room as well, but didn't. I'm assuming since there is a light in that room that he will get away with that one.
We are also missing an outlet in the kitchen, and an outlet in the upstairs hallway.
If someone could help me out here with what is and isn't code maybe I can go through the city inspector to make sure we get what we were expecting!
They just drywalled it last week. Is it a terrible pain to make these changes after drywall?
Thanks
