Building size requirements.

Is there a sq footage building size that dictates when ASHRAE lighting requirements are required?

Commercial office space is what I’m dealing with.

No drawings are required for the renovation work I’m doing but I’d like to know if there’s a requirement for the energy efficiency of the lighting, etc

I asked the electrical inspector and he said he knows next to nothing concerning ASRAE requirements.

I also asked the Head of Inspections for the municipality and he said if the building is under 5K sq ft it doesn’t require it.

I found a publication that does state the 5K sq ft requirement but it was dated 2008.


There are no drawings required for the renovation so I have nothing to work from regarding this .
