Building Supplied by Feeder, what are the grounding electrode system requirements?

Hello,

I am trying to comply with NEC 2014 Section 250.32. I have a new 7000 sw ft building being fed from a feeder running from an existing building/service through a covered walkway. Do I need a complete grounding system at the new building with building steel, ground rod, and water pipe? Or would I just bond the water pipe to the existing equipment grounding conductor and a single ground rod would do?

I am concerned about having two grounding systems connected.

I am a bit confused by this section so Thank you for the help.

If the second building is completely detached then you would need to install a GES at the second building. The GEC would connect to the equipment grounding bus and the neutral would remain floating

Since there is a covered walkway, the need for a GES at the new portion would depend on whether the AHJ deems this as a separate structure or not.

Either way you are running separate neutral and EGC to the new portion, and adding electrodes and connecting them to the EGC would not be prohibited.
