Hey guys,

I have a quick question. I'm doing a job that's going to be a community building at a park. According to the burial chart any conduit I run under the building needs 0" of coverage. Basically my question is, is it acceptable to rum ENT OR PVC in a 4" slab. We are talking 3/4" and 1" conduits.

I'd get it in or under the rock, depending on the floor size, watch out for the floor expansion joints and the plumber. The first thing the concrete guy will do to clear or even cut there joints is use a 8"-12" circular saw and clear out or cut them in and they bury their saw blade.

The plumber will be lower than you in the earth.

Get with the GC and tell them you want to do your runs on finish dirt grade pre rock, have your stakes, 90's and bailing wire ready.

Good Luck!

I would agree that it would be smart to have it in long before the concrete guy even starts working for the simple fact that if anyone ever had to saw cut the concrete......well you know, and it can be a real bugger to fix.

Yeah I know I can install under slab. I just needed to know if I could run ENT in the slab to prevent trenching costs. And I'm not worried about trade damage either, I will as build every conduit, and if there is trade damage somebody's just gonna have to pay.

You don't need a trench. You simply scratch a ditch in the gravel just deep enough that the gravel barely covers your conduit.

There is going to be no gravel. It's slab on grade. And to scratch In conduits is proving to be difficult with 95% compaction. I have a walk behind ditch witch on site as well but with all the footings and rebar, its too much work to maneuver.

NEC wise it can be embedded in the concrete slab, structural engineer may not allow it though.
