OK,I think I know the answer but hate to think about it. I need to cross a alley way with conduit I have two poco lines, two water lines and one gas line to cross all in 24 ft span. 300.5 for column 3 says 24" how ever what I would like to know is can I go shallower and concrete encase the conduit. This would do two things for me protect the conduit and patch the drive way.

Door #1 24"
Door#2 12"
Door #3 4":D :D :D
Please let it be #3 and not #1:cool:

NECH commentray following 300.5:
Conductors under residential driveways must be at least 18 in. below grade. However, if the conductors are protected by an overcurrent device rated at not more than 20 amperes and provided with ground-fault circuit-interrupter (GFCI) protection for personnel, the burial depth may be reduced to 12 in. Exhibits 300.5 and 300.6 provide examples showing underground installations of 18 in. and 12 in., respectively.
Exhibit300.5.jpg

Exhibit 300.5 PVC rigid nonmetallic conduit buried in compliance with Table 300.5 and installed in accordance with 300.5(A).

Exhibit300.6.jpg

Exhibit 300.6 A 20-ampere, GFCI-protected residential branch circuit installed with a minimum burial depth of 12 in. beneath a residential driveway.

What is in your conduits?

I don't think an alley way counts as a residential driveway.

Alleys are specifically listed. 24" min depth under all columns. Sorry.
This is for a 100 amp service in a shopping center. Not the answer I wanted but expected:mad:

Solution:

Buy cheap tape measurer
cut off the first 20inches
trench 4" depth
stick tape in ground, showing 24" to surface
take picture
cover up pipe
call inspector
show him photo of installation

He might just show you a photo of a signed card;)
