I am trying to undestand the rating of a busbar in a panelboard. I am looking at a 225 ML panelboard and it says that it could come in with 100 amp and 225 amp bus amp rating. Can I conclude that 100 amps is the max cb I could install in this panelboard?

I would say that it depends on which bus is installed in your panelboard. Since this is ML, the panelboard bus would need to be protected by an overcurrent device at the other end of the feeder.
I also wonder why they would designate an ML panelboard as 225 if it has a 100A bus in it. ???
Is it actually that the same shell with a 100A bus in it would be a 100A panelboard with a part number to match?
