Bus Drop Cable

I plead ignorance on this topic. Can bus drop cable be run from the bus duct across the bar joist approximately 100-150 feet to a piece of equipment and still comply with code provisions. Electrician normally would place conduit and drop from a box, but company is asking for bus drop cable all the way. What is allow and where would I find the provisions in the NEC. Thanks

NEC section 368.56 (B) seems to describe where and how Bus Duct Cable is allowed.
