Bus Duct Taps

Have a 5000 amp 48VDC enclosed bus duct. Does a 75 amp wire tap 5 ft. long to the load equipment need to have an overcurrent protector at the tap? Art. 368.17C lists exceptions as per 240.21. If no protector is required at the tap, does the tap wire need to be enclosed 240.21(B)(1)?

Article 240.21(B)(1) 3 and 4 would be your violation to the exception.You'll need to put a buss way tap enclosure in or up size your wire and ocpd.
