When terminating bus duct into gear as shown I would imagine you need to attach wire to the end of bus duct and terminate that wire to the gear bus?

Yes bus duct will have a transition where it changes from wire type conductors to the actual bus duct.

Minor note: The conductors would terminate on an overcurent device and not the gear buss.

I don't see any wire type conductors connecting the two sections only bus duct.

At 5kA the connections will be bus bar to bus bar. The exact method will depend on the bus and switchgear manufacturers. Square D used to have a bus connection installed at the factory that the bus duct plugged into, so it was just like joining two bus duct sections.

The bus duct can't terminate directly on the OCPD/bud, correct? Need to transition to wire was my inquiry. oh I see Jim answered my question.
