I have a job (remodle) and are numerous bus plugs that have been moved several times by the previous owner and now the engenierees are telling us to move and reuse them again. I have heard that bus plugs can only be removed and reinstalled only so many times before voiding the UL listing and they can also fail. Is this true? I can not find a UL listing on the plugs themselves. Are there any references I can use to ensure that i give the costomer the best and safest product I can. I would hate to have 100-800Amp Bus Plugs fail during service!!!

I have not heard that, but I would check to make sure the "fingers" are not bent.
Another thing--DO NOT install on an energized bus! Shut the bus duct down before installing the bus plugs.

Some manufacturers offer a contact "grease" that should be used every time a bus plug is relocated, other than that I've never heard of a limitation.
