Do you have to use a plastic bushing when using PVC at the same times that you would need to use when when using EMT or other raceways? I was under the impression that you didn't need a plastic bushing with PVC connectors etc.

IMO, you need a bushing. 352.46. If you use a slip fitting adapter then I say no you don't.

352.46 Bushings.
Where a conduit enters a box, fitting, or other enclosure, a bushing or adapter shall be provided to protect the wire from abrasion unless the box, fitting, or enclosure design provides equivalent protection.
FPN: See 300.4(G) for the protection of conductors 4 AWG and larger at bushings.

Thanks for the response Dennis.

Where that article says "bushing or adapter", what real world device would an adapter be? I assume a PVC male adapter (connector) wouldn't work?

EDITED: I just read your edit now, thanks.

I usually don't require a bushing when PVC is used, because it is usually "flaired" a little bit which kind of elimiates the sharp edges.
