Hi All,

What would be the difference between a business name that ends in Electric vs one that ends in Electrical Services?

I’m kind of liking Electrical Services as I feel it sounds more precessional.

(All this from my perspective and wild guesses)
I take them the same way, adding "service" (not plural) implies that service is more what you do than just new stuff. It also implies more complex or difficult jobs than just adding a light or wiring in a car charger. One other naming thing that always gets me is using the possessive - " Joe's Electrical Service" vs "Sampson Electrical Service" - the first always seems like the one-man shop that does small stuff. All that aside, many of the biggest companies are "QWERT Electric Co/Inc." or something like that.

That said, what's below the name on the truck usually describes the emphasis- "New home construction", "No job too small", "They couldn't fix it, we did"; that sort of thing.

How do you want to pitch the business and what sort of work are you really after?

The name needs to be easy to pronounce and spell. Also is it available as a domain name.
My first business was TBTraing, that was too medical, went to puget sound electrical training but some out of the area could not pronounce puget.
I liked sound electrical training but some thought it was audio training
Probably getting the domain name registered is the most important. The domain name gives you your email.
I used GoDaddy for domain registration
Today many don’t have website but use facebook

Mine has Electrical Services in it, as I do small commercial and industrial jobs, a lot of troubleshoot and repair, though I do hook up a lot of large machinery, such as glass tempering ovens, along with automated saws. Worked all day on one saw last week that was only a couple months old. I had to reverse engineer it to figure out what was wrong with it. The Italians don’t like to give out the wiring diagrams.

The thing is there doesn't seem to be word for "the craft occupation or business of working with electricity and electrical systems". "Electrical" seems to be closest to me. "Electric" is kinda weird to me, not sure why myself and 90% of electrical businesses use it 🤔

Well, guys, I did it. I'm officially the owner of - Black Ridge Electric LLC. I plan to work small jobs on the weekends while I continue working my full-time job for another employer. I hope to eventually go out on my own once I figure out estimating and the cost of business.

I went with "Electric" due to the simplicity; however, as Hillbilly mentioned "Electrical Services" is more fitting for commercial and industrial jobs. I've been a traveling industrial electrician for the last fifteen years and am tired of being on the road. Wish me luck.
