I was wondering if anyone has any experience with BNI (Business Networks International) I was thinking about looking into joining a local chapter and would appreciate any advice on the matter.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Yeah, if you can blow one morning a week, during prime working hours, go for it. Otherwise, quit chasing follies and get back to work! ;)

Yeah, the weekly breakfast meetings do seem like a hassle, but I wonder if the references are worth it. I can send my wife to some of the meetings. But is anyone a member with experiences, good or bad? Is it worth the money?:-?

You might want to join your local Chamber of Commerce.
They will present many opportunities such as card exchanges, cocktail hours, etc. if they are a good chamber.
Many times they also will offer discounted business services such as insurance, accounting, etc.

I have been a member for three years. It works quite well for me. this past month I can directly or indirectly connect 20% of my business to it. The every week thing can get old but I send others in my place from time to time. and there are very few EC's in BNI you can go to other chapter meeting and get your name out there. there do seem to be a # of "losers" in chapters that just pass you a referral to make it look like they are trying. That being said I will most likely leave BNI in April of next year.
