I have always understood that it is permissible to replace the damaged buss bar(s) in a breaker panel with the same manufactures buss bar(s) for this Panel. I am not modifying the Panel by changing from one manufacture to the other. This is an apples to apples change out. Is this correct.

Re: Buss Bar(s) in panel board

If the panelboard is designed with replaceable parts, those parts will be identified by the manufacturer and listed as replacement parts for that panelboard. I see no problem however it may be more economical and practical to just replace the entire panelboard.

Re: Buss Bar(s) in panel board

This kind of sounds like a question asked a few months ago in regards to an rv park repair. But in that one someone wanted to manufactuer thier own buss bar to replace a burned up one. This the same person??

Re: Buss Bar(s) in panel board

No this is not the same person. I read that one also. I have found over the years that there are manufactures that build boards with replaceable buss assembly's. What prompted me to ask the question is because it was asked of me. As I said I have always replaced these buss assembly's with the exact replacement parts. I decided to get others input. I can see where some contractors do try to build as many dollars into a job as possible. We find if we are honest with our customers and provide an excelent service and with options to save dollars on the overall cost we get many call back & referrals with no advertising budget. So much for my philosophy. I really just want to know if there is a code issue here for me to understand and learn.

I'de go with the manufacture's recommendation. Your "dead front" may not line up on another companies products.(if this was permissible)
