I just got a call from a home owner (HO)...seems they were busted by the AHJ for no permits.

I go over to the location and here's what I find:
- 12/2 UF run for outlets and recept. in yard;
- UF depth unknown
- UF run inside new brick and mortar "fence posts/piers";
- some posts/piers have 1, 2, or 3 cables exiting the top through the limestone cap - no box, fitting or connectors;
- WP boxes in brick knee walls w/no KO seals or connectors in any openings;

In surveying the rest of the exterior work, that may or may not be part of this citation, I find plumbing type PVC used to connect outlets on a wood/Trex deck - no connectors, but plenty of DWV 1/4 bends.

In talking w/HO after surveying the "scene of the crime", all he wants to know is "how much is a permit ?" ...like that's all it takes.

I think that same homeowner lives in my area, because there can't be more than one like that, can there?

Oh yes there can......We have all seen it all to much.I like the no connector on a water heater senario,Or all I had was a 2 pole 50 for that 15 amp circuit I put in.Best advice is to tell the happy bob villa watching dummy that if you pull a permit all that work will all be redone and if you remove it will cost extra :D Or get in your truck and bogity bogity bogity boys lets go racing :cool:
