We have an inspector who rejected an installation due to installing a new plug-in switch that protrudes 11" from the face of the bus switch mounted directly above it. Per NEC 110.26(A)(3) it allows a maximum of 6". I never thought this rule will apply for vertical busways as plug-in switches come in in different sizes. Any thoughts?? Thanks,

Good quesiton. Do you have any photo's? I'm not understanding his interpretation as to how it applies to busways.
I don't have any pictures as just received an RFI from the field but I might get some pictures tomorrow. I have looked at this section and it does not list any exceptions.
