Is it now legal to splice entrance cable between meter can and main breaker? if so are their any particulars I need to be aware of (i.e. type of splice, enclosure needed, etc.)?

Thanks

Thanks billy...I referred to that section, and its further references...would like to use a PVC 6x6 box with approved butt splices for the 2/0 CU and heat shrink on the splices...

A 6" x 6" for six 2/0 CUs?

Are you built like "The Rock"?

If it was me I would not even think of a box less than 12" x 12" x 4"

Just curious, if the distance between the meter pan and the breaker panel has to be "the shortest distance possible" , why not replace the entire length of cable ? I know I don't have all the particulars of the job but it would seem to be easier to replace the cable than it would to mount a 6 x 6 box with w/p connectors and butt splice it in the box.

BTW, NSI and Polaris make insulated butt splices. I would look into one of those before I used heat shrink and std. butt splices. A few $$ more but well worth it.
