Is anyone aware of a manufacturer of 600V Distribution Busway that, with plug-in units (e.g. fused disconnects or breakers) installed, allow the inspection of the finger / stab clusters (the connection point of the plug-in unit to the busway)? In other words, this connection is visible for inspection, without removing the plug-in unit. I am referring to busway, typically rated 400A-1000A, with feeders 20A-200A for industrial / commercial distribution.
Thank you.

I've never seen any like that, if you could see it, thruogh an opening, then something could

fall in and make a mess. May I ask why/who needs to see this connection ??

We offer a distribution track busway system (Starline) rated up to 400Amps that does allow a very limited view of the connection area if you scan at just the right angle up thru the access slot. However, it is generally uneccessary as our connections are manitenance free and have a very good field history of not overheating.

I would like to see this connection when the hinged door is open, for inspection. Experience has shown this connection to fail, but there is no way to inspect without removing the unit. Some really old West. units had a clear plastic type guard.

My firm has completed 1000's of IR scans in the last 25 years before that I completed 100's of scans for 4-5 years. I would say busway fingers fail at about the same rate OR LESS THAN stationary/movable contacts on fused safety switches.

Proper installation, proper maintenance of the distribution equipment, visual and IR.

. However, it is generally unnecessary as our connections are maintenance free and have a very good field history of not overheating.

Miracles do occur... your connections never fail? or are they in line with typical manufactures failure rates for busway to distribution equipment.
